Important Labour Board Decision Goes Our Way

Nov 5, 2020

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

To All Field Construction Boilermakers,

It is with great relief that after many months of legal submissions and replies by all parties involved, and with the support of the BC Bargaining Council of Building Trades (BCBCBTU), we have finally received a British Columbia Labour Relations Board decision that confirms our position along with the BCBCBTU’s position. That the inclusion of the former BCA of BC contractors into the CLRA Industrial Standard Agreement is deemed to be unreasonable and against the purposes of the Labour Code, and will not be allowed by the Labour Board.

This is great news for the Boilermakers, along with other BCBCBTU trades that feared that they too could face the same fate. As we further digest this Labour Relations Board decision with our counsel, we will keep you up to date on our path forward. In the meantime, we will continue to work under the 2014-2020 BCA of BC agreement with those applicable contractors.

You can read the BC Labour Relations Board decision here.

Fraternally Yours,

Jordan Streng
