IBB Peer Support Pilot Program

The IBB is preparing to launch a Peer Support Pilot Program.  They are seeking 2 members from Lodge 359 who are already supporting their brothers and sisters on the job, specifically the members people naturally turn to when things get hard.

The IBB Peer Support training course will give selected candidates:

  • Skills in active listening, crisis recognition, and appropriate referral;
  • Knowledge of confidentiality obligations and ethical boundaries; and
  • A structured framework to support fellow members through personal, mental health, or workplace challenges.

Date: April 21st – 23rd 2026

Location: Ontario

Criteria:

We’re looking for members who demonstrate compassion, credibility, and trustworthiness.  Candidates with lived experience navigating a personal or mental health challenge, and who are now in a positive place, are especially encouraged.

Selected candidates will be contacted to confirm their interest and availability for training.  The selection process includes a brief interview and a short, confidential psychological assessment with FSEAP to ensure the candidate’s well-being.

After the March 13th deadline has passed, candidates applications will be passed onto and be reviewed by the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. Additional opportunities to participate in this program will be offered in the future.
