British Columbia has the skilled tradespeople, shipbuilding expertise, and industrial capacity to build the ferries our province needs — and there is a strong economic case for doing it here.
A new report commissioned by the Build Them Here Coalition found that building four new ferries domestically would:
🔹 Contribute $1.5 billion in cumulative GDP to Canada, with 85% of that benefit staying in BC.
🔹 Generate more than 10,000 person-years of employment, the vast majority in British Columbia.
🔹 Generate approximately $413 million in additional revenue for federal and provincial governments.
These aren’t just numbers. They represent thousands of opportunities for skilled workers, apprentices, contractors, suppliers, and communities across BC.
